I have never created a website before so this whole chapter was new to me. I had no idea how much effort goes into creating a website. It took so much time, and we even had templates for most of it! I have a new respect for all those people who create webpages as their job. The website was a lot of work but I am sure it will be worth it. It is so easy to create a webpage which has the possibility of reaching the world. It is quite mind blowing.
I am struggling with some of the parts of the website because I am not in internship one. Thus, I do not have a cooperating teacher, or a schedule, or other details. I am using the classroom that I am currently doing field experiences in. Hopefully this will not cause too much trouble in the future.
This has been a difficult chapter, but now that it is over I feel like I have accomplished a lot. I learned many different skills. I also learned about different applications including Fetch or WS_FTP and Seamonkey. Below is a link to my website!

Media Integration
This was a very informative chapter on media integration. I usually spend so much time choosing fonts and colors in a powerpoint that I do not spend near enough time on the text and pictures. I learned how to record narrations for the slides. Although, it is strange to record and listen to my voice, I have learned how to incorporate this new feature into powerpoints. I already knew how to insert a hyperlink but I did learn how to convert video files so that they can be played directly on the slideshow. I have learned many great new features of powerpoint and am excited to use them in the future.
The Warriors of the Net movie was quite interesting. I liked how it showed the whole process of the internet and moving information. I have never thought of the internet like that before so it was eye-opening to me. It just blows my mind how information can travel so quickly all over the world.
The SeaMonkey feature for editing a webpage is wonderful. I had no idea there was a browser with this capability but I really like it. It was so great not to go back and forth between the unit plan template and my own unit plan. I can edit the template to match my unit. It is amazing!
Below is a link about incorporating powerpoint into the classroom. It has tutorials and guides for students to create their own powerpoints. I think showing the students one created by the teacher, then giving them a guide to help them would be a great way to "show" them how to create their own powerpoint.

My Future Classroom Layout
Planning & Designing
This chapter was a fun one for me because it dealt with planning and designing. I live my life with a plan and I must say I really enjoyed planning and designing my future classroom. I have thought of different ideas, but I never really had a visualization of these ideas. I'm sure I forgot some parts during this classroom design but I hope to revise it as new ideas come along. I was amazed at all of the features in Publisher. I have never used the drawing application and I must say that I am very impressed. I have used Paint before but I liked Publisher much better.
Another thing that amazed me in this chapter was Google Earth. I had heard of this program before but I had not used it. Wow! I can't believe all of the things that are possible within this one program. The pictures that people uploaded of certain sights really blew my mind. I am excited to incorporate this into my math class using latitudes and longitudes for calculations, and calculate distances between points, etc. I also like how students can learn about the area around the school and about some fun places nearby. Google Earth allows the students to see other places as well. They have probably not traveled abroad or even across the country but they can see different locations in Google Earth.
The interactive whiteboards have so many wonderful uses and I hope that I will have one of these in my classroom one day to encourage participation and show information easier. With the $100 laptop on it's way and the advancement of handheld computers, I can imagine all of the students having computers in my future classroom. My differentiated assignment as a secondary math education student was on the graphing calculator tool in Elluminate. This was a great feature to have to demonstrate to the class. I could not believe all of the features that it had. It is so similar to the calculator I am used to holding in my hand! Elluminate is a great way to encourage team teaching. A friend and I have already talked about using it when we have our own classrooms. I continue to be amazed at all of the technology that I am learning about. I can't wait to use some of this technology in a classroom one day!

Instructional Idea
Chapter 1
After "reading" chapter one, I am a bit overwhelmed by all of the aspects of our online textbook. This is quite a new experience for me with videos, frames, links, etc. as a part of the book. It is amazing all of the technology that is used in such small space. I hope to learn how to use different aspects of our book and incorporate them into my classroom one day. It is also fun to think about the future and what technology will be available after I have been teaching for 5 years and 10 years. I would bet that all of my students will have computers in the classroom at some point down the road. I look forward to learning lots of new ideas.
My First Blog
This is my first blog so I am looking forward to learning new things as I go. I created the blog as part of a class at WCU. Today is Martin Luther King Day so we are out of school. I am hoping that we will have some snow tonight or tomorrow.
